I complain about going to work alot.
While doing my first round check tonight one of my patients asked me if I would hold her hand. I said of course and asked if there was anything wrong or anything I could do for her. She looked at me and said she was scared. After complaining all day about having to go to work, at that moment it all went away. Being able to do something so simple as hold a hand to comfort those in need not only helped them, but made me realize just how important bedside manners are.
I think watching the moving Patch Adams actually affected me in more ways than I thought.
